Say Yes To Kimonos

This week is special, I wanted to talk to you about a traditional item that is clawing it’s way back to popularity because of its versatility. What’s the item you ask? Well, it’s a Kimono.
Originally, “kimono” was the Japanese word for clothing. But in more recent years, the word has been used to refer specifically to traditional Japanese clothing and women around the globe are giving their own personal touch to this garment.

So for my casual chic look I’ve picked a highly embroidered Kimono in Navy Blue. When you’re picking a Kimono and pairing it with other clothing items, ensure that you always follow one rule, ‘Opposites Attract’. If your Kimono is heavy on design then the rest of your clothing items will be relatively subdued and if your Kimono is toned down, then go all out with the choice of your pants and top.

I opted for a Coral basic tee from Michael Stars. Flattering and wearable, it’s the perfect tee a girl can have.
The white frayed denims I’m sporting here, has an all-over contour-hugging fit. Not just that, it offers wear-all-day comfort! Just my type!
The kitten-heels slingback complete the look with its classy attitude.

To keep my Kimono looking sleek I’ve used a Thalia Fringe Belt.

Like I mentioned earlier, Kimono’s are super versatile, here are my top picks on how to style it right:
1) Belt it right: A big day at work lined up? Belt up your Kimono and you’re ready to slay the day with a sleek look.
2) Let it flow: An evening with the girls is on the cards? Bring your LBD out and let your Kimono flow on top of it.
3) Unlimited design options: From embroideries to prints and colorful designs, there are plenty of options for you to choose from, so choose wisely.
Kimono is one very essential closet item and I urge each of you to atleast have a few of these stocked up!
