How to Make Ruffles Work in a Traditional Indian Outfit

Darlings!
I’m back with an all new inspiration from India for you.
Think Alice in the Wonderland with an Indian Twist.

Tell me, what do you think when I say ‘Ruffles’?

Is it your fourth birthday party, with you wearing a pink dress full of ruffles, feeling like the most special girl in the world?

What if I told you that you can get that exact same feeling when you wear ruffles even now?

It’s true! I tell you.
No longer are ruffles the sole property of 4-year-old-princesses, it’s taken the world by a storm and both the east and the west are exploring this style to their heart’s content.

So if you are thinking of taking the plunge and exploring this style, let me show you how!

Tip #1: Make the ruffles the focal point of the outfit

The best way to make anything elaborate work, is to make sure you’re highlighting it.
Go all out, make sure its dramatic and highly structured.
Doing it in bits and pieces just shows that you’re unsure.
So why hide? Explore the style to your heart’s content.

Tip #2: Embrace Prints

Ethnic Indian outfits are incomplete without prints.
Don’t you agree?
Traditional Indian prints are literally countless here in India, and they all have their unique individual style.
The outfit I’m wearing is inspired from the Bandhani style native to Gujarat and Rajasthan.
It’s amazing how the ruffles are fully accepting the prints on the fabric and just giving the traditional outfit such a modern look.

Tip #3: Quirk is Essential

If you know me, you know that I’m all about the quirks.
Doing what everybody does, and wearing what everybody wears, doesn’t interest me.
The beauty is truly in finding unique things that are special to you and making them work.
That’s what this outfit is all about, the ruffles, the prints, the colors, and the coins, all quirky, all coming together to form something incredibly beautiful.

If you are looking for designs that are as unique as your style, then Aanchal Rohra is the designer for you.
Layered, quirk, but deeply traditional at heart – these futuristic designs will ensure that you and your outfit is the talk of the town!
