Fashion Forecast 2019 – Hour of the Hippie

“I’ll be riding shotgun, underneath the hot sun, feeling like a SOMEONE!”
I have been listening to George Ezra’s Shotgun on repeat and my oh my! Does it feel like the age of the Hippies is returning or what?

What is it that you love the most about this style?
For me, it is the free-flowing georgette that makes your body and soul feel free!
The use of stones, trinkets, and charms that remind you that it is the little things that make a difference.
Doesn’t it instantly improve your mood?

Fashion Forecast 2019: Hour of the Hippie

I’m so thrilled to be including this theme in 2019’s Fashion Forecast, as the designers across the globe have embraced this style wholeheartedly too.

In collaboration with Papillon Styles, I’m bringing you my rendition of how you can dress boho, and bring some play into your day.

#Trend 1: Flowers over Everything

“I’d rather wear flowers in hair than diamonds around my neck!”
That’s the perfect way to describe a happy bohemian. If you’re going to follow it, then the best way for you to do it is to find a floral outfit.
Florals are all-season wear so you can be sure that you will be getting the most out of it.
I picked this floral jumpsuit from Byron Lars because this style is all about comfort.
That’s what this whole outfit is about.

#Trend 2: Soothing Colors

As opposed to the loud/psychedelic colors that plague the flea markets, the bohemian trend is generally about wearing soothing colors.
You will see a lot of greens, whites, browns and beige colors being worn.
It’s about enveloping yourself in natural colors, displaying serenity and tranquility.
They say, Charity begins at home, well, so does World Peace. Calming your personal energy is a huge part of it.

#Trend 3: Go wide, not Skinny

If you don’t know what I mean, let me spell it out.
The silhouettes used in this trend are in the opposite direction of the word ‘Form-fitting.’
Go for oversized tops, wide-leg pants, loose dresses that can be cinched at the waist with a colorful belt, or old worn out denim that doesn’t hold your waist a prisoner anymore.
When picking out something to wear, ask yourself, “Am I comfortable?”
If you hear a cheerful yes from the inner YOU, you’re home darling.

#Trend 4: Accessorize in Abundance

If there is one thing, a boho girl doesn’t shy away from it’s accessorizing.
That doesn’t mean if you are a minimalist you still cannot rock the accessorized boho look.
I am generally very minimalistic with accessories, so what I did instead is picked a multi-layered stone necklace which is louder than my usual style, and still confines into the outlines of this trend, so it’s a *win-win* for my personal style + the boho style that I’m going for.
But that’s just me!
If you LOVE accessorizing, then you can have a field day with this trend.
Wear necklaces, large earrings, bracelets, anklets, body chains, whatever you want. You’ve got a world of options to play around with.
