An All Black Look – Anything But Basic

An all black outfit is the most basic outfit you can get your hands on, right? Well, not entirely.
Black is a universal color and when paired with accessories that stand out can make for a fatal combination.
Don’t believe me? Well, you’ve seen it before, here and here (Flower Power Rules).
So how much of black is too much and what’s the right way to accessorize?
Let’s talk about it some more…
For my all black look I’ve picked lace-up denims. Notice the feminine detailing on them? Since the return of the high-waisted denims in the fashion scene I have been hoarding these. A huge plus for high-waist jeans is its body-hugging silhouette that gives the impression of an hourglass figure by making the waist look smaller and the bottom bigger. You can get the one’s I’m wearing here from & Other Stories.

Bodysuit’s are a high-waisted jeans’ best friend! I love the way it just sits tight and looks extremely chic. Made from a stretch-fabric, the strappy detailing on this bodysuit gives it an edgier look. If you do not want to go for an all-black look you can pick a color that suits you, here.
Now that the all black look is in place, let’s see how it can be spruced up.

I’ve picked a looped cardigan with colorful motifs perfect for an evening outfit! When you pick pieces that are bursting with color like this cardigan, an all black outfit helps pull the whole look together.

Lastly, I’ve picked black suede block heels to give a classy finish and a purple cross-body bag to complement the cardigan.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, there is no such thing as too-basic, you are only limited by your imagination.
So get creative each time you open your closet ladies!
To help you get started, I’ve picked a few favorites, check them out.
