Crack the Code to Athleisure – Dress for Comfort

Busy lives coupled with the need to be more comfortable in your everyday clothes gave rise to the biggest trends we see today – Athleisure.

Will your fav gym tee qualify?
Or those high-waist leggings you just cannot get enough of?
Let me break down what it takes to get the atleisure-d!

Step 1: Pick Comfort Pants
Now, the important thing to note is, you need comfort coupled with good looks.
So pick high-waisted leggings or track pants, like the one I’m wearing.

Step 2: Crop Tops Alert
If you’ve been spotting celebrities walking out of their Yoga/Workout sessions wearing crop tops, you know it’s here to stay. Athleisure works especially well, if you use key pieces from workout and mix them up with your otherwise regular clothes. Crop tops are just right!

Step 3: Cover Up
I’ve picked a casual shrug layer to cover up. A cover-up layer is very essential to cracking the code for athleisure. Most often the layer is what takes your look from workout wear to something that you can wear to a day of shopping in the mall, or a brunch.

Step 4: Accessorize
Notice that I’ve got an all-black outfit. But if you want to rock the athleisure trend it is a must that you should add in more patterns and colors. That’s why I picked a leopard-print pouch to go with my outfit + the white mercer boots from Archive (Available in Black, here).

When it comes to taking your activewear outside your workout sessions, you have to understand when it’s suitable and when it just won’t work.
Casual occasions should be where you put your creative hat on and strive to get the best out of athleisure.

Here are some key rules that should help you sail through your picking process.
1) Layering is imperative. Layer sportswear under regular fashion pieces, i.e. sports bra under jackets.

2) Pair crop tops with high-waisted pants.

3) Work leggings in your favor – there are some amazing styles available right now, so choose well.

4) Sporty t-shirts work great – use them.

If you haven’t tried out this trend yet, better get started.
Have fun testing out the limits of active sportswear inside your workout sessions and outside on the streets!
