When you think of your home, what’s the vibe that you wish to create? Do you want to create a space that is cozy yet carefully curated?
If this is the kind of decor that makes you go weak in the knees then I have news for you. I’m sharing with you tips to pick couches that ooze coziness but you will also find them incredibly functional.
#1 Lived-In feel
Your couch if chosen correctly can prove to be the best feature of your living room. In interior design, especially if you’re doing it yourself you should consider the fact that no matter what item you pick it should be something that can accommodate the wear and tear that comes from being placed in an environment where people are going to be living. So many times we see homes that look stunning, but it also seems outlandish and not lived-in. On my recent visits to a decor store called Edra LA, I came across this beautiful couch called The Pack! What I love about it is that it’s uniquely designed, and its priority is total comfort. You can know more about the couch here.
“It fits easily in any environment, antique or modern, classic or contemporary.”
– Francesco Binfaré
#2 Ensure the structure is solid
Checking to see that your couch has a solid structure is important. You need something that can last for years to come.
#3 Look for a story
I am a huge fan of picking items for my home that have a story to tell.
Here’s the story of ‘Pack’:
Its base resembles an icepack, the form in the center of the couch resembles a bear lying on its side.
The fabric and texture share notes similar to ice layers!
Spelling comfort, luxury, and coziness all in one couch.
#4 Find the right Fabric
Fabrics like faux fur add a welcoming softness to a living room.
#5 Don’t compromise over a small space
If you live alone, or in a cramped space there is no way you should compromise on the style of your home. I found this incredibly chic chair at Edra too and I love how it’s the perfect blend of creativity and luxury.
Before you begin looking for the perfect couch, keep in mind:
- How often do you use your couch?
- What is its purpose?
- What’s the size of your room?
Only then proceed to the next step.
I suggest also visiting furniture stores and speaking to the staff there. At Edra, I met with Anastasia and she was really helpful and gave me some amazing insights on interior design.
The more you speak to experts the clearer your choice becomes.
